As with all businesses, having well-articulated points of view on current issues affecting the industry is key to building brand strength and market credibility. To that end, recently in March, the Quixxi Connect team and Lakeba have been building our presence as thought leaders in the Australian Crypto/Blockchain sphere, in particular the ICO space here.

The Federal Treasury has been on the front foot and published an Issues Paper in early January of this year, calling for industry input on the regulation, opportunities and risks in the ICO sphere. We saw this as a valuable opportunity to put forward our considered thinking and submitted our 17 page response to Treasury on Feb 28. The content of this was prepared by a joint team including Chris Perry and our CEO Aatral Arasu, in coordination with the Lakeba team. We were proud of the final submission as it provided Quixxi Connect with a voice on the current state of the market. In this submission we pushed for stronger, greater regulation by the Federal Government and a braver, more innovative environment, with less cumbersome tax regimes to encourage the local registration of ICOs in Australia.

Following our submission, Quixxi Connect and Lakeba were then invited to an intimate invite-only industry roundtable convened by Treasury to further explore the content of the collective submissions. We were well represented by Aatral Arasu at this roundtable who contributed strongly to the discussion. We now await the follow up report and regulatory recommendations from Federal Government and look forward to seeing how this might pave the way and help ICOs thrive in this market
